Name:[EVE00285] 14th Islamic Financial Stability Forum : Islamic Finance and Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Regulation
Description:

The 14th Islamic Financial Stability Forum (14th IFSF) will be held on 14 December 2016, in conjunction with the 29th Council Meeting of the IFSB.

The regulatory policies pertaining to anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) is a prominent issue on the current agenda of G-20 and other global bodies. While there is little evidence to believe that AML/CFT risks faced by the institutions offering Islamic financial services (IIFS) are fundamentally different from those of conventional financial institutions, not many studies are available in relation to the individual products and services offered by the IIFS and their implications for the broader legal and regulatory framework for AML/CFT. In this context, there may be a number of issues for consideration in developing and implementing AML/CFT policies for IIFS, including the need for greater understanding of the specific aspects of Islamic finance in relation to the applicability of existing global conventional AML/CFT requirements.

The 14th IFSF will explore the issues in the implementation of AML/CFT regulations for Islamic financial services industry and identify opportunities and direction for future work in this important area.
