Islamic Financial Services Board Announces 16^th IFSB Global Summit in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam

4 September 2023, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) is delighted to unveil the dates for its highly anticipated 16^th IFSB Global Summit, scheduled to take place from 21 to 23 November 2023 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. Hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), this landmark event solidifies the cooperation and shared commitment between the two organisations.

Under the theme "Islamic Finance Resilience in a Challenging Global Environment: New Risks and Innovation," the 2023 summit will delve into the potential risks facing the Islamic financial services industry (IFSI) in light of the evolving macroeconomic landscape, rapid technological advancements, and climate-related financial risks. While the changing global environment offers opportunities for industry development and growth, it also requires a comprehensive assessment of regulatory and supervisory frameworks to effectively address these new risks.

Secretary-General of the IFSB, Dr. Bello Lawal Danbatta commented, "We are privileged to hold the IFSB Summit 2023 in Brunei Darussalam, a nation renowned for its steadfast dedication to Islamic finance. This prestigious event provides an unparalleled platform for global leaders to come together and discuss key challenges and opportunities, fostering cooperation that will shape the future of Islamic finance."

Previous summits have attracted prominent participants from regulatory and supervisory authorities, international inter-governmental organisations, industry scholars, and market players, positioning the IFSB Summit as a global gathering of key stakeholders in the IFSI.
